I’m Lori (or Red Wellie Girl or RWG), and in this space I explore thoughtful and authentic travel.
My goal is for you to connect with your travel destinations and make your best memories on the road. Find out more at my Start Here page.
Here’s my journey.
I moved to the UK from America in 2011 with two suitcases, one empty passport and a brand-new pair of red Wellington boots. I wanted to live in a new country, experience new things and most of all, I wanted to travel and share my experiences. This is how RWG started.
As time went on, I began to reflect on not just where I travelled, but how I travelled. I used to be the absolute queen of stumbling into my flat at 2 am following a frenetically-paced weekend away, too exhausted to process my experiences and without the time to do so anyway as I needed to be at work in six hours. I wanted to see and do everything I could, but I was missing out on the authenticity and connection I hoped would define my travels.
A bit on thoughtful travel.
Thoughtful travel focuses on letting go of expectations and assumptions and making room for the authenticity of moments and connection. It’s being curious, observant and open when you travel, and being deliberate about how and why. Although thoughtful travel is a work in progress for me, I’m learning how to connect with my destinations on a deeper level, and I’d love to help you do the same.
